pizza!

Made pizza tonight with Sungolds and arugula from the garden.

Top a par-baked (or store-bought) pizza crust with olive oil, shredded cheese, tomatoes, and freshly ground pepper. Bake on oven rack at 350°, until cheese is melted and crust is as toasty as you like.

While pizza is in the oven, toss arugula with more olive oil and pepper.

And slice up some prosciutto.

Top hot pizza with arugula ...

... and prosciutto.

Yum!

first tomatoes

After cleaning up the side and raised beds, picked that Robeson and a few Sungolds. The dog likes to share.

raised bed update

In the raised bed this year:
  • 3 regular chive plants
  • 1 garlic chive plant
  • mustard
  • arugula
  • 2 Paul Robeson tomato plants (1 croaked, curly top virus)
  • perennial arugula
  • 1 thyme plant
  • 3 basil plants

Herbage from left to right: garlic chives (white flowers); basil; thyme (hiding under basil); perennial arugula (yellow flowers)

side bed update

Planted in the side bed this year:
  • 2 Sungold tomato plants
  • 3 red kuri squash plants
(planted 5: 1 croaked, one transplanted to Stacy's)
  • 1 Chinese giant sweet bell pepper plant (from Renée, croaked)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper plant (from Renée, spicy!)
  • 1 sage plant (culinary)
  • 1 agastache (not culinary)

The squash had, as squash do, taken over. I had to cut a bunch of it away from the sage, pepper, agastache, and out of the tomatoes. Discovered a few squash in the process.
