Planted the tomatoes today (Memorial Day). Put one of the Sungolds in the raised bed, the other in the side bed with the Robesons and the basil.

weekend update
Saturday: Snoes!
Sunday: Planted the front door pot. Still too cold for tomatoes, hopefully the long Memorial Day weekend next week will be better.
I swapped out the leaky raised bed rain barrel for this one that was in the south side yard. It has all sorts of Greek writing on it — I think they used to be olive/olive oil barrels? I've decided his name is Stelio Kontos.
Went ahead and prepped spots for the tomatoes though. Pulled/harvested the kale in the raised bed. Dug in mushroom compost, set up and tested the drip hoses, put out the cages.

arugula volunteers
... in the yard! I dug up a few to give away last fall, but we've been eating them since early April. Thanks again to the ever-fabulous Bev for hooking me up with a lifetime supply of perennial arugula!

weekend update
Front yard:
Planted in the sidewalk bed: 5 Dakota verbena; the 2 sages from NM Plant Co;babies offsets from the pot o'hens'n'chicks. Cota came back. Transplanted daisies have varying levels of vigor.
Front door bed: some things didn't make it — Ann Folkard geranium, one of the Richardsonii geraniums, one of the leadworts (leads wort?):
I hacked back/pulled up some of theprairie sage gray sagewort to give the new plants more space:

2015 nursery trip
So, when I ran into the ever-fabulous Bev at the Garden Fair, she told me she was on her way to NM Plant Co next, and that she's already been (of course!), and — most importantly — that they get absolutely cleaned out for Mother's Day. So, I took off a couple hours Thursday morning before work and went out by myself. I was worried that they might be closed, but things were bumpin' by the time I left!

You can tell these guys are pros.
Got a buncha annuals for the pot by the front door (a few more shade-loving things this time):
Also picked up 3 chive starts and 2 sage plants — total was $25 and change. At the office, I wouldn't shut up about my plant haul and dragged three people out to my car to show off.
The selection was a little less than in previous years, but I'll chalk that up to going later in the season? Also, it wasn't as fun to go without the ladies. Next time, we lunch!

2015 Garden Fair
Saturday was lovely, sunny and warm. Got there around 9:30 and saw Calliope and Deb on their way out with flats full of tomatoes! The Farministas were there (formerly Eulalio's Farm) and selling like crazy. The usual: $4 each, 4 for $15. Got the usual 2 Robesons, 2 Sungold. I also picked up 2 basil starts (one red, one green — Christmas!) to round the total up to an even $20.
Ran into my neighbor Maureen and later, of course, the ever-fabulous Bev. She's doing well, said she only needs her new supplemental oxygen for when she's chasing after Johnny Depp.
Headed home, later went over to the LCS for Free Comic Book Day and to bring lunch to Bram, Kevin, Diestler, Skylar, Tim, and Eduardo (and spot them so they could eat).
